Instead, Zora Link can detach a mine while Gyorg attempts to suck the player up, inhaling a mine instead, and exposing his weak point. Floating mines will appear around the area and attacking Gyorg head on is ill-advised. The second phase puts the whole platform underwater, forcing the player to use Zora Link. Gyorg now has two distinct phases, the first being similar to the previous version, except now Link can remain on the platform using his bow to attack. Goht still has the same attacks, and can be weakened using the same methods, the only addition being the vulnerable spot that appears when he has been damaged enough - either appearing above him or on his side, depending on how he is stunned. Attacking from above will now stun Odolwa, exposing his vulnerable spot. However, he is now vulnerable to attacks from above, and the arena is now littered with Deku Flower Pads to reflect this. Odolwa is now immune to most attacks, blocking them with his shield. Attacking this eye enough times will defeat the boss. Every dungeon boss now has a new weak point - whereas before basic attacks could eventually defeat bosses, now enough of these attacks will stun the boss, prompting a giant eye to be exposed. Several of the bosses in Majora's Mask have been reworked - from slight changes to combat overhauls.

In Majora's Mask 3D, the Song of Double Time can now be used to choose the specific hour within the remainder of the current day up to 5AM on the Final Night.Ī new Options menu allows for fine-tuned controls, including swimming control/camera control inversion, Circle Pad Pro calibration, and an audio boost mode. In the original version of Majora's Mask, players could play the " Song of Double Time" to skip ahead six hours. Swimming with the latter method will always drain magic, and when your magic is depleted you can tap R for a short boost through the water. In the water, Zora Link now has 3 different methods of swimming: holding the control stick to laterally swim at a slow speed, holding A to swim at a moderate pace with more directional input through the water, and holding A + R to swim at much faster speeds, enabling a magical barrier that drains magic and electrocutes nearby enemies. His forward jumping attack has been replaced with the side-spinning kick. Zora Link's attack combo has changed slightly, and performs a roundhouse kick at the end of his attack. Goron Link also shows off more stone-skin when defending or preforming a ground pound. Goron Link's regular attack combo now hits much faster, with less weight added to each swing. Deku Link's spin attack also produces spiky roots on the end of his cap. There are now 3 possible Save Files in Majora's Mask 3D, up from 2 Save Files in the previous US versions (the Japanese version lacked the added Owl Saves, but had room for three save slots).ĭeku Link's bubble blast now has a targeting reticule in the first person, and the bubble flies on a much straighter path. Save Statues have been added or changed to the following places: Owl Statue - South Clock Town (behind the Clock Tower as opposed to the west side of the Clock Tower) Owl Statue - Southern Swamp Entrance (a Save Statue has taken its place before the entrance to Woodfall) Owl Statue - Woodfall Temple Entrance Save Statue - Ikana Canyon Entrance Save Statue - Pirate Fortress Main Courtyard Save Statues - First Room in each Dungeon Save Statue - Inside The Moon These new statues cannot be fast traveled to using the Song of Soaring. In addition, several more Save Statues have been added around the game, and bear resemblance of a feather quill instead of an owl. This has changed in the 3DS version, as you no longer need to strike the Owl Statue to save, and you can continue playing after you save the game. You also needed to use a sword to activate each Owl Statue first. In previous versions, the only way to save in Majora's Mask besides playing the Song of Time was to use an Owl Statue to save your progress up to that point and quit. Note that you can still rely on the control stick to aim as well. The 3DS uses gyroscopic controls to enhance first person viewing, and aiming with weapons like the Hero's Bow, Hookshot, etc.
If your magic runs out, you can still press R, but will only gain a short small boost. To enter that faster swimming method, player must hold down R as well to activate Zora Link's barrier, causing him to drain magic at the cost of going faster AND electrifying enemies. In addition to the normal swimming by moving the control stick in the water, holding down A will now cause Zora Link to swim at a moderate pace, unlike the fast pace used in previous versions. When using the Zora Mask, Zora Link behaves slightly different while swimming.
